A Tesla Model S P85D owner, Jon Hall, an Uber driver, posted a dash cam video on YouTube that seems to demonstrate how the autopilot technology works by helping him avoid a near head-on collision with another vehicle.
Hall was driving on State Route 99 just north of downtown Seattle when an oncoming car attempted to make a left turn directly in front of him.
Hall wrote on Reddit that he set his autopilot “a couple MPH below the speed limit of 45,” and that he had his autopilot set to follow cars at the “maximum distance.”
According to Hall, he “did not touch the brake,” and the car “did all the work.”
Tesla has warned users to be cautious when using the autopilot, urging people to “keep their hands on the wheel” while using the feature.
