Finland and the United States will conduct the bilateral cyber defense exercise Cyber Lightning in Finland on 11-15 September 2017.

The goal of the exercise is to recognize common cooperation possibilities and operating procedures in the cyber environment.

The exercise will be led by the Defense Command’s C5 Division. The US participation in the exercise is coordinated by the United States European Command (USEUCOM).

The Finnish Defence Forces are intensifying the international cooperation in cyber defense with central actors in the field during the coming years. The cooperation is based on bilateral agreements and multinational cooperation.

The United States is the leading expert in cyber defense and a natural training partner to Finland in the cyber field, according to a statement by the Finnish Defence Forces .
