UniCredit said on Monday that it has uncovered a data breach involving the personal records of 3 million domestic clients, the third security incident at Italy’s top bank in recent years.

A file generated in 2015 contained names, city, telephone number and email, of the affected clients, the bank said in a statement. No other personal data or any bank details permitting access to customer accounts or allowing for unauthorized transactions were compromised, the lender stated.

The bank is contacting all potentially affected persons and has launched an internal investigation, in addition to reporting to relevant authorities.
