Having given up on the Galaxy Note 7 following the fiasco surrounding explosions of the mobile device, Samsung is taking no chances by sending out fireproof packaging to customers for safe returns of the defective smartphones.
The company previously announced a recall of the devices, saying it will no longer produce new Note 7’s pending the conclusion of investigations into the reason for the explosions of the phones. According to Samsung, the decision to send the fireproof packaging is in compliance with government regulations that require products containing lithium ion batteries subject to recalls to be shipped in such approved boxes.
Consumers in the US should use the U.S. Postal Service and UPS to return their devices, the company said. The U.S. Postal Service will only utilize ground transportation to ship the devices, in accordance with rules for transporting such defective devices.
