Amazon on Wednesday revealed plans to deliver packages directly into the homes of customers who opt in to the program. The new service, Amazon Key, is exclusive to Prime members, and is all about the convenience.

Amazon Key enables in-home delivery and also allows customers to grant secure home access for guests and, coming soon, tens of thousands of service providers, such as Merry Maids, Rover and professional services from Amazon Home Services, the company said.

Amazon Key includes the Amazon Key app, a smart lock and the company’s newest device, Amazon Cloud Cam, an intelligent indoor security camera. It allows customers to track their delivery with real-time notifications, watch the delivery happening live or review a video of the delivery after it is complete.

“Amazon Key gives customers peace of mind knowing their orders have been safely delivered to their homes and are waiting for them when they walk through their doors,” said Peter Larsen, Vice President of Delivery Technology, Amazon. “Now, Prime members can select in-home delivery and conveniently see their packages being delivered right from their mobile phones.”

Amazon Key will be available on November 8 in 37 cities and surrounding areas across the U.S., with more locations rolling out over time, the company stated.
